Secure Computers- Why to do it!

Securing your data is an important factor in any environment, in a digital environment where it is stored and therefore can be damaged or otherwise misused. The damage that can be done ranges from corruption of data to it being stolen. To protect against these threats it is vital to provide effective counters to these threats. Some of these countermeasures are preventive measures, such as firewalls to prevent external access from unauthorised sources, or measures to protect even if it should become compromised, such as backup data.
Loss or corruption of data is essentially non-existent so can cause significant problems, such as loss of customer’s payment details. even worse is if this information is stolen by a 3rd party without permission of those involved they can be very vulnerable to legal action under the Data protection act for not protecting peoples personnel data.

It is also important to note that when transfering such information, it is vital to encrypt it so whatever delivery method is used does not have access to the information sent.
